When a client needed a modern, flexible smart door entry solution for their visitors — and a better way to manage staff access — we designed and delivered a bespoke system using proven, trusted technologies, avoiding unnecessary complexity and cost.
We installed an IP video intercom system at the entrance, integrated with a dedicated SIP server within the client’s office. Each desktop in the designated intercom ring group was equipped with a lightweight IP phone client, allowing only the right team members to receive calls from the entrance — ensuring quick, efficient responses without disrupting the whole office. Staff could instantly answer calls with full video and audio capabilities.
To streamline operations further, we developed a custom desktop app:
- Staff can remotely unlock the door with a simple press of the F10 key.
- Every visitor entry is automatically logged to a spreadsheet, creating a full audit trail for security and recordkeeping.
The same intercom also handles staff entry:
- Employees enter a unique PIN code at the door to gain access.
- Each staff entry is recorded, providing an accurate, automatic log of who arrived and when — helping with timekeeping and security oversight.
Our approach focused on using existing tools intelligently, delivering a tailored solution that’s robust, scalable, and easy to use — without extensive retraining or ongoing maintenance headaches.
